Pain In The Bend Of The Toe

Jetta 2011 - Done!

This time, I must admit I have never much read, studied, analyzed and tried to purchase an automobile. Since July, I read dozens of blogs, books and forums. My first attempt was the Mazda 3. Among Mazda 3 as one crosses the road, the vehicle must possess many qualities. Yes, I enjoyed the cabin, particularly the layout of controls, quality materials and aesthetics in Europe. By cons, my big size prohibits the use of the rear seat behind the driver. There are only a few centimeters between the 2 seats. Moreover, I do not have a car that is difficult to differentiate from others in the mall parking lot!

I also tried the Mazda 5. Here, space was not a problem except for luggage when the third seat is raised. For cons, I did not really appreciate the position of the gear lever which is inserted into the console. It's probably a matter of habit, but I felt like driving a truck. The handling is acceptable, but I found that the roll was a bit too strong for my taste. I wanted something more spacious than my Golf / Rabbit, but despite all its qualities, the Mazda 5 is not for me.

Then I took a look at the Subaru Impreza 5-door, but I found the narrow cockpit and interior presentation a little sinister. In addition, the insurance premium was slightly higher than the Rabbit.

I also tried the Toyota Matrix. I found it comfortable and convenient. It's not for nothing that one finds in much of our roads. By cons, once you add options, the bill increases almost exponentially. It was tempting, but I also had a little trouble finding a comfortable driving position.

Then I went back to my VW dealer and tried the new Jetta (see previous story) , and I obtained one! I have not done a lot of mileage with my new Jetta 2.5L, but so far I do not mind the power steering or the rear independent suspension of the previous version. The handling is similar to the previous version, and I think it is superior to that of the Matrix and the Mazda 3. While the interior materials are a little less noble than before, but the seats remain in my opinion, the best in class. Some blame the conservative style of the car, and so much the better. It is true that it has no side 21st century of the Hyundai Sonata, but this classic design should age well.

short, I am very satisfied and I hope it is as reliable as the previous one. My 2007 Rabbit has been at the dealership only once in 4 years, and it was only for a small problem that was solved in 5 minutes!
