ANNA AND THE THINGS IN LIFE

Illustrator: Vermeire Kaatje
Publisher: The Rowan
Publication date: January 2011
Album from 5 years
Designed for children ages 4 to 8 years, this beautifully illustrated book tells the story of Mary, a little girl very mature for his young age, growing impatient. Mary is also very greedy. It was the best friend she could ever dream of: it's Grandma. With her, Mary shares some good times. They include, have the same personality and love to be both, just both. But one day, Grandma has to go to the hospital and can no longer play with Mary. The girl will then understand
his grandma can not always be near her and that he will one day it goes away.

This book deals with delicate themes of death and bereavement, issues that call very often children. This story also highlights the strong ties that bind a child to his grandparents. The wonderful illustrations bring the sweetness to a subject that may seem daunting at first and difficult to deal with her child. With this book, the child can put words on what the simple questions. It may reflect, alone or accompanied, on the relations that bind him to his grandparents. The character of Mary, a small mischievous and sometimes sassy girl, guide the child in his reading and allow it to more easily identify.
